All White: The Hangover

The Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village will be covered in white on 12 December 20120 when Big Events hosts the third annual the All White: The Hangover event.

Organiser Kopano Alotsi also known as Kopper told Newsday Arts this week that the concept was birthed in 2018 with the vision to gradually see it grow under the similar theme.

“The concept is basically to sell a lifestyle of a laid back and chilled event unlike where people are mostly focused on binge drinking but here we are focused on hanging out,” Kopper said.

He said when he started the event it hosted about 50 people and he would like to retain the similar vibe even as the event grows.

“My aim is to see it grow in such a way that even when it hosts, say 2000 people, those who attended the first one still feel they have its ownership” he clarified.

The event which will be in its third year since it was first hosted in 2018 at Green gate, promises to be bigger and better this time round. In 2019 it had to be cancelled due to bad weather.

“So this year we thought instead of letting the concept die let’s go all out and make it even bigger,” he said.

Big Events is synonymous with hosting extravagant events dating way back to the Maseru Beach Party, Hello Spring Vibes, Night of Sushi.

As a Dj himself, Kopper says he is trying to change the game as things are evolving so should the way hosting and organising events hence he is not selling a lineup of performers rather the ambience.

“In as much as the world of entertainment is evolving we should not ignore culture. Our concept is lifestyle and culture with a modern twist.   The very same concept is headlined by Lamiez and DjSumbody, the reason behind it is to help create awareness and not much for them to overshadow the lifestyle and culture concept,” he added.

Kopper said that they want the focus to be on the concept and not on the line up hence they will not be putting much emphasis on the line up itself.

He said people should be aware that the message is ‘All White’ so people should expect a clean event in all aspects, from the theme to the atmosphere.

“The motto is clean all the way, people should please stick to the theme of the event, let’s all come as angels in our all white attires and expect good vibes” he said.

Now that events have been given the green light and restrictions have been eased, Kopper said as artists and event organizers they understand the severity of Covid-19 just like everybody else.

“We don’t ignore the fact that our industry is a super spreader as far as Covid-19 is concerned and that’s the reality but it is only fair that we also be allowed to survive during these tough times in this new normal” said Kopper.

The event is expected to be attended by at least 500 revelers who will have to adhere to the Covid-19 regulations that include regular sanitizing and wearing masks.
