Alliance Insurance company demonstrated its commitment to supporting the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) by donating two parachutes at a special event held at the Mejametalana Airbase last week Wednesday.
The donation came in response to a request from the LDF, which had expressed its challenges in conducting training sessions.
The insurance giant, upon learning about these difficulties, willingly stepped forward to lend a helping hand.
The donation is valued at M600,000, with each parachute costing M300,000.
Mohlomi Rantekoa, speaking on behalf of Alliance, expressed their willingness to assist the army and highlighted their longstanding collaboration.
“As Alliance, we have a history of working together with the LDF, and when we heard your plea, we decided to give a helping hand because our aim is to help Basotho,” Rantekoa stated.
He further acknowledged the LDF’s unwavering commitment to maintaining safety within the country and recognised their efforts in protecting the lives and livestock of Basotho.
Rantekoa assured the LDF of Alliance’s continued support, stating, “We promise to come back when you need more help since our motto says, ‘We are always there for Basotho’.”
Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for the LDF, Major General Matela Matobakele, expressed profound gratitude for the generous donation. Matobakele also expressed hope for a strengthened partnership between the LDF and Alliance in the future.
“While we provide different forms of safety for Basotho, we are partners in security and defence with Alliance. The people you saw flying in parachutes demonstrate that LDF works on Basotho’s safety in the air, land, and water,” Major General Matobakele emphasized.
He concluded by expressing the desire for the partnership to continue to thrive in order to ensure the ongoing protection of Basotho.
