…as LCS, Matlama renew rivalry in top-of-the-table encounter

VODACOM Premier League (VPL) leaders, Matlama, hopes for a great start in the return to action against the Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) after the international break.

The two premier league giants are set to renew their rivalry in the top-of-the-table tie to be played at the LCS Ground tomorrow.

The Sea-Point outfit is at the top of the 16-team league-table with 62 points from 24 matches and is 15 points clear off their prisons counterparts seated just a spot behind.

Matlama coach, Molebatsi Mothobi, admitted the clash is going to be a tough one between the top two sides as they have both been on top form lately.

“There is no doubt that this is going to be an interesting game of football because we are leading and they are behind us in second position. It is not going to be an easy match but the boys are ready for the game,” Mothobi said.

He said it was vital for his side to resume action with a win to boost their confidence.

“We want to continue with our good run of victories. A win on Saturday against a good side like LCS will be a motivation. They are a very good side with a lot of talented and skilful players but so are we,” he said, adding that all their players that were doing international duty for Likuena have returned with no injuries hence all are available for first-11 selection.

Meanwhile, for his part, LCS coach, Shalane Lehohla, said they were also ready for the challenge.

“Our journey to the top resulted from nothing but hard work from the entire team, we intend on keeping the momentum going. The team is ready for the challenge, we know it is not going to be an easy task because Matlama are a good team but every coach wants to win,” Lehohla said.

He however, is confident that going into the game as would actually be an advantage.

“Every match has its challenges but we are going into this on as underdogs, so that might work in our favour. We should just focus on what we want to do and forget about Matlama’s game plan. Anything can happen,” he said.

LCS also welcomed back four of their players from national team duty hence the entire squad is to make the cut start the game.

The venue will also host a Lijabatho and Kick4Life clash on the same day.

Elsewhere on Saturday, LDF hosts Sefothafotha at Ratjomose ground with Bantu welcoming Manonyane at DiFA Maputsoe Ground.

Linare will visit Lioli at the TY ground with Swallows hosting CCX at the Nyakosoba ground. LMPS and Liphakoe will battle it out at Ratjomose Ground.
