Lesotho is on the verge of having the first ever strip club in the country with the announcement of the Adelante strip club which will be the first of its kind, Newsday has heard.
The adult club is set to be opened sometime in April at a yet to be revealed location in the village of Ha Makhoathi which is in the outskirts of Maseru.
A strip club is a place where strippers also known as exotic dancers provide adult entertainment, predominantly in a form of striptease which is an erotic dance in which the performers gradually undresses, either partly or completely, in a seductive manner while the spectators showers her with cash while watching the show.
In an exclusive interview with this publication, owner of the club, Rorisang Khumalo pointed out that Adelante will be a high class establishment to provide entertainment strictly for adults.
“This is not going to be an ordinary strip club as we are looking to give it a high class standard and to be able to cater for the middle to high class market of adults,” Khumalo said.
He pointed out that logistics are at an advanced stage as even a trading license has already been acquired for the establishment.
“We are yet to begin with any logistical issues such as hiring bouncers, security and general staff but once we have sorted that out we will start issuing vacancies.
“The intention is to do everything right from the start, as much as this will be a recreational area, we will be following all the laws and the regulations of the country regarding our operational license” said Khumalo.
Khumalo who has been exposed to the strip club lifestyle in South Africa says he learned a lot from his friends who run such establishments hence he thought of starting his own.
“I spent most of my time in South Africa, especially Gauteng and seeing the way strip clubs are run, got me thinking of having my own in my home country. As long as everything is done by the book, we won’t have any problems,” he said.
Strip clubs have always been linked with prostitution and when asked about the possibility of prostitution which is still illegal in the country he said there is a big difference between prostitution and a strip club.
“As far as I am aware, there is no law against a strip club (hence we have been awarded a trading license) but prostitution on the other is against the law. All we have to do as Adelante Strip Club is to ensure that our performers as well as our clients are safe in and around our venue,” he stated.
