Musician Motebang Nkoko alias, Juvy Oa Lepimpara is set to release another song with the late Honye.
The song was set to be released yesterday as part of the muso’s 31st birthday celebration but had to be pushed back by a whole to September 24 due to technical difficulties.
In an interview with Newsday Arts Juvy said the song is part of the work which they had been working on with the late Famo singer.
“The song is a work of me and Ntate Honye who passed on while we were still in studio and it was unfortunate that he died before we could finish the projects.
“I had decided to release the song on my birthday as present to him and to commemorate his memory,” Juvy said.
The Skipa Se Ntekane hit-maker released one of the most loved songs ‘K’hotho’ alongside Ntate Stunna and Honye in 2018. He said the new song is part of the series of songs they were to produce with Honye just before he died.
“Initially when we did K’hotho the plan was that we are to do a number of songs together. So we still had a number of his extracts which were already recorded and packaged but the unfortunate situation of his passing derailed our plans,” said Juvy.
Honye passed away in 2018 a few months after the release of K’hotho which went on to be the biggest song in and outside Lesotho. The song peaked at number one on a number of radio station charts in Lesotho and South Africa such as Metro and Leseli FM.
The proceeds from the song have been going to the family of the late Famo singer in particular his kids.
Though the new song’s name has not yet been revealed, it is said to be in memory of Honye hence its proceeds will be going to his family.
“We had to ask for permission from his wife and she had no problem because what I am to do is make sure that all proceeds are to go towards the upkeep of the wife and kids,” Juvy said.
The song was produced by Scutum and was mastered by Max on the decks together with Phoka Matete.
