The Major League Basketball (MLB) was concluded on Saturday at the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Ratjomose Courts with KTA All Stars being crowned the champions.

KTA All Stars defeated Simply-Talent 60-56 in the best of 5 series finals where the champions claimed the victory by clinching three out five matches played. The series was a very competitive one with both teams going pound-for-pound at each other.

The crowning could have easily been fascilitated a week prior with KTA bossing Simply-Talent in proceeding from the first clash but the latter was resilient enough and was not a walk-over by the veterans by winning the fourth match 42-39 to take the series to the last game.

However, KTA All-Stars were determined to cement their legacy and their experience in the game helped them to outplay Simply-Talent focused on making a name for themselves.

MLB was established as a private basketball league with the aim to keep the sport alive as the National Basketball League was inactive since 2019 as a result of the subsequent Covid-19 pandemic. It was founded in 2020 but was active early 2022 by former executives and administrators of the game.

“MLB was established to bring basketball excitement, discipline and oneness among players because over the recent years, there has been a lot of divisions in the game which would lead to quarrels,” this was said by one of the founders and KTA All Stars players, Molupe RatÅ¡olo.

The first MLB leg was played in February while the second with the leg played in March with the third leg concluded on Saturday.

In post-match interview, Ratšolo highlighted that the game was tough contrary to what they expected.

“It was a tough and competitive game, closely contested looking at that they did what they could but we were at our best and our strategy was on-top,” Ratšolo indicated.
