Mokaeane gets last laugh

The High Commissioner of Lesotho to England, Rethabile ‘Mahlompho Mokaeane has won the appeal case against the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

The judgment which was handed down yesterday Friday, November 12, 2021 by the Judge President of the Court of Appeal Justice Kananelo Mosito, states that Mokaeane, inter alia must be paid her employment benefits and that her children’s school fees which sum to over M4million must be paid within five days of the judgment.    

“In paragraph 21, the following appears that it is accordingly ordered that the appeal succeeds and the order of the High Court is set aside and replaced by the following; (a) the application succeeds, (b) the respondents are ordered and directed to pay the applicant’s employment benefits in terms of regulation 110 (1) and (2) of the Public Service Regulation 2008 by making an immediate payment of applicant’s children’s school fees within five days of this order, in respect of school fees due and able from the fifth of January 2021,” Mosito said.

“In the event that the respondent fails to pay following the granting of this order, the applicant is granted leave to approach court or in the same papers or supplemented wherever necessary to seek the enforcement of the order on such terms as the court may deem fit. The applicant is granted costs of suit. The appellant is granted costs in this appeal,” he said.
