He is one of the country’s hottest things to happen musically at the moment for his escapades that have seen him collaborate with some of the A-list South African acts such as Blaklez and Cassper Nyovest among others, Megahertz is making inroads into the apparel industry releasing his own blanket line.

Born Thaabe Letsie in mountainous Mokhotlong, the Khubetsoana-based rapper, producer and stable owner who is also popularly known as Ntate Stunna, of Sesotho Fashioneng fame, told Newsday Arts that the blanket has not been given a name yet, as the plan is to incorporate Basotho’s input in its naming.

“We decided to drop my own blanket line. It features a Mokorotlo hat, a microphone and an accordion. The name of the blanket is not there yet because we want to give Basotho and opportunity to give it a name,” said the muso who broke into the scene with a 2014 overnight hit Mookho.

Ntate Stunna has become popular with his blanket and Basotho Mokorotlo hat signature look to the point whence he has attracted speculation that he is one of the Brand Ambassadors of the South African-based blankets manufacturers Aranda blankets, a claim he has denied.

Aranda is the oldest blanket manufacturer in South Africa with a huge market in Lesotho and amongst Basotho in the diaspora as the chief wearers of blankets as a traditional dress code.

With the new line, Stunna makes history by becoming the first Mosotho musician to ever own a blanket line.

He has been enjoying a lot of success since the release of his Sesotho Fashioneng teaser that got him a lot of popularity in South Africa and neighboring countries.

Early last year, he dropped the Sesotho Fashioneng EP and it opened a lot of doors for him on an international stage with his hit song from the EP ‘Ke Thata’ reaching a million views on YouTube.

The unique approach to hip hop has seen him grace stages such as the South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) in 2020.

He was also featured on a song by South African Djs duo Major League DJz alongside Abidoza with Cassper Nyovest and the Amapiano queen Kamo Mphela, as well as collaborating with rapper Blaklez among others.

Stunna said all his successes are nothing short of hard work and prayer over and above his unique music style.

“I have always worked hard and I continue to do so, but I still pray God because without him, I am nothing,” he said.

Ntate Stunna has shared stages with some of the heavyweights in the South African and Lesotho music scenes such as Juvy, Dj Tira, Ricky Rick and Stlofa amongst others.

In January he dropped another hit single as he celebrated his 25th birthday. The song titled “Ntoa” which talks about standing up against abuse in women and children has reached over 800 000 views on YouTube in three months.
