Gospel music sensation Makoanyane Ntlama walked-away the biggest winner of the night during the first ever Lesotho Gospel Music Awards hosted by Namane Ea Nare productions at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre on Saturday night.
Ntlama scooped both the Best Artist of the year and Best male artist of the year awards.
In an interview with this publication the singer expressed his excitement over his exploits being amongst the winners and one of the big ones.
“I am happy that I am amongst the winners of the first ever Gospel music awards I feel so blessed, honestly I am very excited,†Ntlama said.
This is not the first time the singer gets awarded for his music as he crowned the Ultimate Music Award winner for Best Gospel Artist in 2014.
“Although I have received awards before this is very special because it is the first purely gospel music award and I got two awards so I feel very blessed above all else,†he said.
In the category for Best Artist he was up against a stiff competition that included the likes of Palesa Motlomelo, Ntsoaki Kutoane, Malehlohonolo Mphou, Katleho Moshe and Lerato Mothobi.
The Male Artist category was contested by top artists such as Rithah Mots’eare, Majara Majara, Thokoane Letuka, Katleho Moshe, Justice Mofoleng and Teboho Maphike.
The glamourous awards were hosted by the versatile Ltv news anchor Nomaswati Lets’olo alongside Hallelujah Moja Love tv host, Thabang Mnisi.
According to the organisers, the event will be hosted on an annual basis to honor and celebrate the gospel musicians doing an amazing work to uplift souls through spiritual music.
Award for best song was scooped by Nkoe, with Gospel New-Comer taken by Rapelang Patala.
John Matela took home the prestigious Album of the Year Award beating a stiff competition of Katleho Moshe, Lerato Mothobi, the legend Majara Majara, Pastor Khauli, Ntsoaki Kutoane, and Zakharia Mohlabi.
In other categories winners were Balopolloa ba Morena for Best Gospel Group, Mahlony Makha for Best Music Video, Best Gospel Radio Presenter was awarded to Radio Lesotho’s Mpolokeng Semoli.
Atamelang Ho Jehovah won Best clap and Tap while veteran singer and song writer Khahliso Mphephoka won the Best Song-Writer award, upcoming Christian hip hop artist T-Born scooped the Best Hip Hop Gospel artist, Best Zion and Best Postola album were scooped by Ntsoaki Kutoane and Molise & Areka Ea Selekani and best collaboration was taken by the duo of Ritha Mots’eare and Keke.
There were also special awards which were not voted for by the public such as supporting award which was taken by Lerato Senatla and ‘Meko Phohleli, the Lifetime achievement award went to Justice Mofoleng with Iconic award going to the late Tšepo Tšola and recognition award handed to Tšepo Kherenchane.
