A 42 year old ex-police man from Ha Lenea in the Berea district was arrested on November 13 for fraud. According to police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, the suspected fraudster is not a first time offender as he was even released from the police service following a litany of criminal cases against him while in service.

He is reported to have madeforged aNational identity document and payslip for someone to go to a furniture shop to make a fraudulent purchase on credit. It is further reported that the purchase of a fridge and couches amounting to M43, 000 was effected in July. When the fraud was suspected and police investigations proffered, they led to Ha Tlalinyane where the couches were discovered from a man aged 43 years who said he bought them from the suspect for M15, 000.

Both the suspect and the person who the documents were made for will appear in court once investigations by the police have been concluded.

Quthing

PheelloKhati, 36, of Ha Bulara in the Qomoqomong areais in police custody suspected of raping a 3 year old minor on November 15.

Police reports indicate that on the day the suspect found the victim playing together with another boy aged the same when he coerced them with money to walk with him.

He was later found raping the child by members of the community who had launched a search party for the missing children.He appeared before the magistrate court of Quthing on November 15th, he is awaiting trial in custody and he will appear again in court on the first day of December 2020.

Five Pakistani men, Hayat Akbar, Imran Gul, Islam Ariful, Muhammad Niaz and Rahim Abdur aged between 27 and 36 appeared before the magistrate court of Maseru accused of violating Section 70 of the Penal Code by being illegally in the  country and utilising forged travel and identification documents.

They are reported to have been in possession of the documents which are said to have been fraudulently acquired from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Mafeteng as well as Mohale’s Hoek issued between 2009 and 2019. The documents also show that these men reside in Mafeteng Stadium area but police investigations revealed that they do not stay in Mafeteng.

41 year old Neo Moiloa of Ha Mabote appeared before the Maseru Magistrate Court on November 18 charged with robbery. Police reports indicate that he was arrested on the 13th November after he forcefully took more than M50, 000 on a road block in Ha Foso pretending to be traffic police officers together with his friends. He was found in possession of a licensed 9mm firearm, which, together with his VW Golf5 vehicle, was confiscated and will be presented in court as evidence. He is waiting for trail in custody, and will appear in court on the 26 November 2020. ����������
