Budding Lesotho multi-sectoral mogul Bishop Ramela has mull over the thought of changing the media industry with a quest to establish a private Television.

This comes after the Leribe-born business guru successfully established multiple projects under the umbrella of Ramela and Associates. The string of projects cuts through farming, retail, health, property, energy to media with existence of Bokamoso FM. The projects are estimated to have cost a lucrative M200 million since 2017.

According to Ramela and Associates Communications Manager, Smangaliso Dlamini the company is at the beginning phase of preparation for television with talks engaging the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA).

“We are at preliminary stages of acquiring a television station licence and LCA is yet to give us proper costs and we have sent quotation to build our own studios and get equipment,” he said.

Although Dlamini could not reveal the actual budget of the projects in the pipeline including the establishment of the television, he indicated that the initiative would be a multimillion project.

Ramela and Associates was formally registered in Lesotho in 2017 with Headquarters in Leribe.

“The total investment he made from 2017 is about M200 million while the investment returns are measured on long time not short term.

“We are deliberating on adding more projects as a building of a factory in Leribe that purifies water to be used in hospitals is underway.

Two buildings; a police station and court in Leribe are currently underway. A filling station in Mokhotlong is also in progress, with restaurants’ chain and many more to follow,” said Dlamini.
