Shortly after the announcement that he has signed with South African record label, Ambitious Entertainment, Lesotho born artist, Wave Rhyder dropped his first single under the label titled Pula
On the review this week we take a listen to the song Pula performed by Wave Rhyder. The song was officially released onOctober 15, 2021; it is an amapiano sound with a twist of trap.
The song runs for 5 minute 22 seconds, built on 99-Beats-Per-Minute (BPM) and laid on 100/100 time signature.
The instrumental of the track is laced heavy with Kwaito like baselines, low tempo 90s South African house rhythms and percussions from another local subgenre of house known as Bacardi.
Though it originates in South Africa, the Amapiano genre has taken not only Africa by the storm but the whole world is taken by the frenzy of the high-pitched piano melodies which distinguish the genre.
A distinctive sound of drums come into play a number of times on top of the piano cord strings laced with a seldom sound of trumpet.
This is not his first amapiano project, early this year he dropped a song under the genre titled Re Ingoetsoe, however when he does amapiano he is not as hard as when he sings trap which got him a lot of following.
The lyrics of the hook are based on the song that most of us crew up with, especially when we were playing in the rain.

The general content is based on the vibe of a party over the weekend and how the spending of it all leaves the grooviest broke, savings run out, relationships suffer because of it and jobs are destroyed.
However, the large portion of the song is loaded with instrumentals as it is a norm with all the amapiano songs.
The song has gotten a surprising reception from the general public with most saying it is not an entirely nice song and some saying it has portrayed itself as a summer song.
Though he slightly shifted from the trap genre to amapiano, this is not a completely new territory for him.
