It promises to be an evening of glitz and glamour when Face of Sotho Kids which will be hosted by the Sotho Kids modelling agency comes alive tomorrow –Saturday October 23, 2021.

The glamorous pageant is set to bring a unique mix of culture, glitz and glamour at the Lesotho High School Hall.

The events coordinator Sebabatso Litlali told Newsday Arts that the event is set to showcase the diverse culture within Basotho with cultural cuisine being served in the VIP section.

“We have decided to expose Basotho culture and make it fashionable with a modern touch with this year’s event so cultural attire is encouraged,” Litlali said.

The event was started in 2019 by the agency as a way to have a face that represents them in the public eye. The person who wins the pageant is expected to be someone who is not only beautiful but passionate about social issues.

“We started the event as a way to have someone who advocates for social justice, as we know that Sotho kids is all about standing for social issues that affect the general public such as Gender Based Violence, Climate change and education. So that is still what the judges will be mostly looking for, beauty with brains and love for Basotho culture,” she said.

The event will be graced by some of the industry greats such as Media personality Lintle Ramatla from Bokamoso 974, Miss Lesotho 2019 Palesa Makara, Face of Lesotho Executive Director Linhle Setho, Mopeli Mohale the 2019 Mr tertiary and King of Globe International Lesotho as well as Khotso Molapo who is the Pere Dstv manager and businessman.

The 2020 edition of the Face of Sotho kids could not be hosted due to events and gatherings being restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This, Litlali said could be the reason why this year’s event has received an amazing reception from the general public.

“Last year we could not host any of our annual events including the Face of Sotho Kids pageant due to the Covid-19 outbreak, so when we announced that it will be taking place this year, we have been receiving an incredible reception,” said Litlali.

The revellers at Face of Sotho kids are to be treated to some top class performances by some of the MCT Entertainment artists such as Morena Sway, Mmateng, Omali Themba, Wave Rhyder and Jannie Kay with the hosts of the event being the flamboyant Diva Motelle alongside Kat Afro.

MCT Entertainment is one the headline sponsors along with Elibo Guest House and Dona@Balos where the winner will be afforded a Culinary Arts and food preparation scholarship.

It is at the very event that Sotho Kids has planned to honour and remember one of their own models and poets, Khosatsana ea Koeneng who passed on in June this year after a short illness.

The 2019 coveted crown was awarded to the then 18-year old Kholu Mofokeng who will only be passing on the crown this weekend.

Others who received special recognition were Senate Seeiso-Maama – First Princess; Meisi Matsie – Second Princess; Pontṧo Lekhooa – Miss Popularity, and Fiona Makhetha – Top Model.
