The second edition of Boipuso Showcase pop-store takes place this weekend from today (Friday) till Monday 4th October 2021 at Cuban Linx in Maseru.

The event started in 2020 as a way to celebrate local brands in streetwear and custom artists. The seasonal showcase is aimed at celebrating Lesotho’s Independence Day (October 4) with style and fashion.

In an interview with Newsday Arts, the event organizer, Zoe Marie said independence time is a big deal in the country hence they thought of the event.

“You will see that during this time a lot of people are home and are all about spending especially on things that are relevant to our country as we know that Independence holiday is a very big deal.

“For instance, some people love the products that Shippa represent but can’t make it to our other pop-up stores,” Marie said.

The Boipuso Showcase is not the only pop-up that Shippa has on an annual basis. There is the weeklong festive pop-up during December and another one around June-July which is dubbed Tsa Winter where all winter fashion is showcased.

“We usually treat the Boipuso showcase as a teaser that leads to the Tsa Summer which then gives consumers insight into what to expect in the summer,” she said.

The Showcase will feature new brands such as Ambitious Apparel, Amplic Clothing, Tribe, Swag Ink, Sicko wear an regular brands being Bonono, City kings, FMCK, Joachim Garments, Nobodies Customs, RoomsStudios and Sqo who will be releasing Spring and Summer Collections.

The activities to take place during the showcase include clearance of winter collections, launch display, review, fittings, merchandising of latest spring and summer collections, sneaker customization drop off and pick up.

Wear local Fridays, an initiative that promotes people wearing the various local brands on Fridays will set a street meet session on Friday with the tag line “Re Ea Libusa”. Shippa is an online and pop-up store which has relentlessly been marketing and showcasing street wear and lifestyle brands since 2016.

The organisers say they have been working with Cuban linx as it is a prime lifestyle club located in Maseru and offering social life experience and space for creatives.
