The Vodacom Premier League (VPL) has resumed after a very lengthy break from action. Having gone four months with no football action after being put on hold in January when Lesotho experienced a surge in Covid-19 positive cases, the people’s game back to life this week as Lioli walloped Lifofane 2-1 on Wednesday.
Uncertainty is still rife on whether the 2020/21 season will play to completion on the calendar time with the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) pushing the date for the end of the season campaign to June.
This weekend sees the full fixture of the VPL tomorrow in a day packed with action as Matlama take on neighbours Likhopo in the Maseru derby at Setsoto stadium. It remains to be seen whether Matlama can hold their own and keep the form that they have been having since the start of the season or if Likhopo will spoil the party.
In other matches, log-strugglers Swallows host Lesotho Defense Force (LDF) at Nyakosoba. LDF also had a great start to their campaign winning three and getting one draw. Third-placed Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) also yet to lose a match in this campaign, having secured three wins and a draw will welcome Linare at LCS Ground. Linare are hoping for a change of fortunes after winning only one match and a draw while losing two under the guidance of their new coach Teboho Moloi.
Elsewhere, CCX will host Kick4Life in a wrap of Saturday games at the LAC Ground in Hlotse Leribe.
In one of the weekend’s biggest clashes, defending champions and current log-leaders Bantu will play host to the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) at Setsoto Stadium on Sunday.
LMPS will be looking to move up the log table and spoil the party that Bantu have been having with their 100%-win rate and top form since the beginning of the current campaign.
Most clubs which have been doing well from the beginning of the season will be looking to continue where they left off while those who have been unfortunate will be looking to improve their performance.
Only Bantu, Matlama and LCS remain unbeaten so far this season.
