Men charged with attempted rape

Ralibuseng Moshesha, 28, from Ha Lekhari appeared before the magistrate court of Mafeteng on 29 October 2020 accused of attempted murder, robbery, rape, and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Moshesha was accused together with age-mate Mosa Mokoena from the same village who appeared before court on 27 October 2020 with the same crimes. They are awaiting trial in custody and are expected to appear in court again on 11 November 2020.

Reports show that on the night of 23 October 2020 the accused met a 4+1 taxi with a man and woman in it. That is when they pointed guns at the man who ran and left the woman with the accused. The accused took her to a secluded place where they tried to rape her, but then an altercation arose followed by gunshots where one of the suspects together with the woman were injured. The police were then tipped off to which they found the accused on the scene and arrested them.

Teenager commits suicide over porn

On 26 October 2020 police received a report about a dead body of a 14 year old boy suspected of hanging himself. Upon arrival the police found the dead body hanging from the roof of his home.

Reports indicate that he was caught watching pornographic videos to which his phone was sequestered by his parents as punishment, then, out of anger, he is suspected to have hung himself.

Duo kill brother-in-law

Two men aged 21 and 32 years from Sekokong in the Mokhotlong district are in police custody for suspected for the murder of their 24 year old brother-in-law of the same village. Police reports indicate that the deceased got into a fight with his wife who in turn ran to her maiden home. It is further reported that the diseased then went to the household where he took a sheep which he claimed to have used to pay lobola for the wife when they got married. The infuriated brothers, who felt disrespected by this deed, then followed him to his place where they clobbered him with mabetlela (assault sticks) until he was dead.

The accused then handed themselves to the Mokhotlong Police Station with their with the murder weapons. They will appear in court as soon as investigations against them have been completed.
